Seaside Trip from Tinsley

49 women and children enjoyed a trip to Blackpool on Friday, organised by the local community organiser Zahira Naz. In an area like Tinsley it's often quite difficult for families to visit the seaside due to financial reasons, lack of transport or cultural barriers. For most families this trip was the only time during the summer holidays when they will have a family day out.

You mention the word families in your post, yet not mention of fathers just women and children. Any reason why?

Because no fathers applied to go.

So what is being done to appeal to fathers next time? Would a weekend rather than weekday appeal to more? How may fathers were reluctant to attend as it clashed with Friday prayers? Darnall Forum must address it's event days to appeal to larger section of the community.

It's the day when members of the community said they wanted to go. They organised and paid for the trip themselves.

So in actually fact, nothing to do with Darnall Forum and not at all relevant to the whole of the community and more of an event organised by a specific group of people for themselves only?

Darnall Forum helped the volunteers to organise the trip, but they chose to go on a Friday. Anyone could book places but it was quickly over-subscribed with people ringing us desperate for seats. By the time I was free to put it on the blog it was already clear there would be no space but it was advertised in good time (on 22 July) on the Darnall & Tinsley Community Organisers' Facebook page. We could have taken two coaches but the volunteers wanted to stop at one.
